Local Lake Oswego resident Kent Lewis along with his long-time chef, Nathan Bates, opened Tavern on Kruse in 2015 delivering top-notch food and an unparalleled wine program in a venue filled with staff who don’t take themselves too seriously.
Despite Nate’s 4.5 years spent in a Michelin three-star restaurant and Kent’s 20-year run serving five-course, wine-paired meals to Portlanders, both whole-heartedly felt that the relevance of food and drink lies in friendship.
As a resident of Lake Oswego, Kent saw an open niche for an eatery that could provide press-worthy (but approachable) food served by an enchanting staff rather than a kowtowing crew. When opened, the “Tavern” misnomer caught many locals by surprise. Today, we are recognized as one of the best restaurants south of The City, with an incredible wine list, delectable dishes, a stunning modern interior and two beautiful patios on which to summer with friends.
